PM Modi, Finnish President discuss Ukraine conflict, bilateral ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from President Alexander Stubb of Finland on Wednesday evening.

During the conversation, the leaders exchanged views on recent global efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent support for a peaceful resolution and the early restoration of peace and stability.

Both leaders also discussed ways to deepen India–Finland cooperation. They reviewed progress in key areas including trade, technology, quantum research, 6G, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainability.

President Stubb reiterated Finland’s support for an early conclusion of a mutually beneficial India–EU Free Trade Agreement. He also expressed support for the upcoming AI Impact Summit that India will host in 2026.

Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to President Stubb to visit India at an early date. The two leaders agreed to remain in regular contact to take forward the partnership.
