PM Modi | Jal Jeevan Mission

PM Modi marks six years of Jal Jeevan Mission, over 15 crore households receive clean drinking water

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday marked six years of the Jal Jeevan Mission, highlighting its role in transforming lives by providing safe and adequate drinking water to more than 15 crore households across India.

Launched in 2019, the flagship initiative aims to ensure individual household tap connections in rural areas. In just six years, the scheme has improved public health, empowered communities, and brought measurable socio-economic benefits, especially for women.

“The scheme focuses on dignity and transforming lives. It has also ensured better healthcare, especially for our Nari Shakti,” the Prime Minister wrote on X, responding to a post by MyGovIndia.

Sharing visuals of the initiative’s impact, PM Modi added: “A glimpse of the lasting impact of Jal Jeevan Mission across India. #6YearsOfJalJeevanMission.”

The Jal Jeevan Mission has been instrumental in reducing waterborne diseases, improving rural healthcare outcomes, and freeing women from the burden of fetching water from distant sources.
