PM Modi to inaugurate development projects worth over ₹18,000 crore in Bihar, Bengal today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal today to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than ₹18,000 crore, covering sectors like power, road, health, urban development, and water supply.

In Bihar, the prime minister will dedicate projects worth around ₹13,000 crore at Gaya, where he will also flag off two trains and address a public gathering. Later in the day, he will inaugurate the Aunta–Simaria bridge on the Ganga and other infrastructure works.

The 8.15-km-long Aunta–Simaria bridge project on NH-31, including a 1.86 km six-lane bridge on the Ganga built at a cost of over ₹1,870 crore, will connect Mokama in Patna with Begusarai. Officials said the new bridge will ease traffic congestion, cut detours of more than 100 km for heavy vehicles, and improve access to Simaria Dham.

PM Modi will also inaugurate the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama section of NH-31, built at a cost of ₹1,900 crore, and the Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660×1 MW) worth ₹6,880 crore, which will strengthen Bihar’s power supply.

Among other projects, the prime minister will inaugurate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Muzaffarpur, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced oncology services. He will also dedicate sewerage projects under Namami Gange in Munger worth over ₹520 crore, besides launching urban infrastructure and water supply schemes under AMRUT 2.0.

The prime minister will flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma. He will also participate in a symbolic “Grih Pravesh” ceremony for over 16,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (rural and urban).

In Kolkata, PM Modi will dedicate projects worth over ₹5,200 crore, including three new metro corridors. He will flag off the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar metro service from Jessore Road station and also inaugurate the Sealdah–Esplanade and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay sections through video conferencing.

The Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar route is expected to significantly improve airport connectivity, while the Sealdah–Esplanade stretch will reduce travel time from 40 minutes to 11 minutes. The Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section will enhance access to the IT hub.

At Howrah, the prime minister will inaugurate a newly built subway and lay the foundation stone of the six-lane elevated Kona Expressway, a ₹1,200 crore project aimed at easing traffic between Howrah, Kolkata and adjoining areas.
