Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka today to unveil key infrastructure projects aimed at boosting urban mobility and regional connectivity.
The Prime Minister’s visit will begin at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru at around 11 a.m., where he will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains. The new services include the Bengaluru–Belagavi route, Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra route, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune route. These semi-high-speed trains are expected to enhance passenger comfort, reduce travel time, and improve inter-city connectivity across regions.
Following the railway event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro and take a metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City metro station. The Yellow Line, part of the Metro Phase-2 project, stretches over 19 km from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, with 16 stations, and has been developed at a cost of around ₹7,160 crore. With its launch, Bengaluru’s operational metro network will expand to over 96 km, serving a larger section of the city’s commuters.
At around 1 p.m., Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of urban connectivity projects in Bengaluru. This includes the foundation stone for Bangalore Metro Phase-3, a major expansion project worth over ₹15,610 crore. The Phase-3 network will cover more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations, aimed at meeting the city’s growing transportation demands in residential, industrial, commercial, and educational zones.
The day’s events will conclude with the Prime Minister addressing a public gathering in Bengaluru, where he is expected to highlight the significance of these projects in shaping the future of urban and regional transport in Karnataka and beyond.
