PM Modi to visit Gujarat on Aug 25-26, to launch projects worth over Rs 5,400 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat on August 25-26, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 5,400 crore in Ahmedabad. The projects span urban development, energy, roads, and railways, reinforcing the government’s focus on infrastructure and connectivity, according to an official release.

On August 25, at around 6 PM, the Prime Minister will address a public function at Khodaldham ground in Ahmedabad, where he will dedicate multiple projects to the nation and lay the foundation stone for others. On August 26, at 10:30 AM, he will visit the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad, to inaugurate the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off exports of Suzuki’s first global Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the “e VITARA,” to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. He will also address a gathering on the occasion.

The railway sector will see significant advancements with the Prime Minister dedicating projects worth over Rs 1,400 crore. These include the doubling of the 65-km Mahesana-Palanpur rail line, costing over Rs 530 crore, and the gauge conversion of the 37-km Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road rail line and the 40-km Bechraji-Ranuj rail line, together worth over Rs 860 crore. These initiatives will enhance connectivity, ensuring smoother and safer travel for commuters, tourists, and businesses, while fostering regional economic integration. Additionally, a passenger train service between Katosan Road and Sabarmati will improve access to religious destinations and stimulate grassroots economic activity. A car-loaded freight train service from Bechraji will strengthen logistics networks and boost industrial hubs, creating employment opportunities.

To enhance road connectivity and commuter safety, Modi will inaugurate the widening of the Viramgam-Khudad-Rampura road and lay the foundation stone for six-lane vehicle underpasses on the Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur road and a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad-Viramgam road. These projects aim to improve transport efficiency, ease traffic flow, and drive industrial growth in the region.

In the power sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate distribution projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore under the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL) in Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar. Implemented under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, these projects will modernize the network, reduce power losses, and enhance reliability, minimizing outages during adverse weather and improving public safety.

Urban development will also receive a boost, with Modi inaugurating the redevelopment of slums at Sector-3 of Ramapir No Tekro under the In Situ Slum Rehabilitation Component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). He will lay the foundation stone for road widening projects on the Sardar Patel Ring Road around Ahmedabad and key urban infrastructure initiatives to strengthen water and sewerage management systems.

To enhance administrative efficiency, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new Stamps and Registration Building in Ahmedabad West, aimed at improving citizen-centric services, and a State-Level Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar to bolster secure data management and digital governance.

A key highlight of the visit will be the events at the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur on August 26. In a major milestone for the Make in India initiative, Modi will flag off the export of the “e VITARA,” Suzuki’s first global strategic BEV, positioning India as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles. Additionally, he will inaugurate the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant, a joint venture of Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki. This development, ensuring over 80% of battery value is manufactured domestically, marks a significant step toward self-reliance in green energy and clean energy innovation.
