Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a two-day visit to his home state Gujarat, spoke about India’s growing military strength with a direct reference to Operation Sindoor and pledged to safeguard the interests of farmers and small entrepreneurs.
Addressing a large gathering after launching multiple projects, PM Modi contrasted India’s response to terror attacks under the Congress and BJP governments. He said that while previous governments “did nothing” when terrorists shed blood, his government ensured that terrorists and their masterminds were not spared.
“Terrorists used to shed the blood of innocents, and the government in Delhi did nothing. However, today we don’t spare the terrorists and their masters, no matter where they are holed up. The world has seen how India avenged the attack in Pahalgam. In just 22 minutes, we destroyed their hideouts deep inside Pakistan,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi also promised measures for the welfare of farmers, the fishing community, and livestock-rearers, calling their interests “a matter of paramount importance” for his government.
“From Ahmedabad, I tell small entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, farmers, and livestock-rearers that your welfare is paramount for Modi. My government will never allow any harm to come to small entrepreneurs, farmers, or livestock rearers,” he declared.
Accusing the Congress of keeping India dependent on foreign nations for seven decades, PM Modi said this dependency created avenues for corruption in imports. In contrast, he added, today’s India has embraced self-reliance as the foundation for building a Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister also hailed Gujarat’s emergence as a manufacturing hub, noting that global and domestic companies were setting up factories across the state.
“Today, every type of industry is expanding in Gujarat. Residents are proud to see how our state has become a manufacturing hub. Now, Gujarat is also becoming a major centre for electric vehicle manufacturing. Nearly every city is surrounded by vast industrial corridors,” he said.
Speaking about connectivity challenges between ports and industrial hubs, PM Modi said his government had taken concrete steps over the past decade.
“Over the past 11 years, 3,000 kilometres of railway tracks have been laid, and the entire railway network in Gujarat has been fully electrified,” he added.
