Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes to all participating teams, players, officials, and supporters as the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 begins tomorrow, August 29, in Rajgir, Bihar. The tournament coincides with National Sports Day, celebrated on the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said hockey holds a special place in the hearts of millions across India and Asia. He expressed confidence that the tournament would witness thrilling matches, remarkable talent, and moments that will inspire future generations of sports enthusiasts.
The Prime Minister also lauded Bihar for emerging as a vibrant sporting hub in recent years. The state has hosted major tournaments such as the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, Asia Rugby U20 Sevens Championship 2025, ISTAF Sepaktakraw World Cup 2024, and the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
