Shivraj Singh reiterates PM Modi’s call, urges citizens to use indigenous products

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for citizens to buy products made in India. The Prime Minister had made the call on August 2, 2025, during the disbursement of the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi in Varanasi.

In an official statement, Chouhan emphasized the importance of prioritizing domestic products to strengthen the Indian economy. “Dear sisters and brothers—everyone lives for themselves—insects, birds, and animals. But what’s the point of living only for oneself? We must live for our country,” he said, adding that PM Modi has shown the way by urging people to purchase goods made within India.

Appealing to citizens across the country, Chouhan stated, “Whether something is made in your village, nearby city, district, state, or anywhere in the country—buy only those things. India is growing rapidly. Today, we are ranked fourth in the world, and very soon, we will reach the third position. This nation of 1.44 billion people is a huge market. If we resolve to buy and use only Indian-made products, our farmers, small-scale producers, self-help groups, and local artisans will benefit immensely. Their income will rise, and our economy will become stronger.”

Highlighting the economic rationale behind this call, the minister said, “Why should our money go abroad? Let it provide livelihoods to our own children. I will live for my country, and you too should live for the country—by buying only products that are Made in India.”
