Singapore Deputy PM calls on President Murmu, strengthens India-Singapore ties

A Singaporean ministerial delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday. The delegation is in Delhi for the third meeting of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR).

Welcoming the delegation, President Murmu highlighted the thriving India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership despite global uncertainties. She recalled the State Visit of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam earlier this year, marking the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations, and noted that high-level interactions like the ISMR continue to drive the multifaceted relationship forward.

The President expressed appreciation for Singapore’s strong stance against terrorism following the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. She emphasized Singapore’s role as a key partner in India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision, and Indo-Pacific Vision, with robust collaboration in trade, investment, defence, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges. She also noted the expanding partnership in emerging areas such as skilling, green economy, and FinTech, expressing satisfaction with the deepening ties.
