Success of Operation Sindoor rooted in Make in India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attributed the success of Operation Sindoor to the power of technology and Make in India defence initiative.

Addressing a gathering in Bengaluru, PM Modi called the city a “symbol of New India’s rise,” blending philosophical heritage with technological prowess. He hailed Karnataka’s talent, particularly Bengaluru’s youth, for their role in the country’s advancements in sectors ranging from IT to defence manufacturing.

Referring to the recent Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said that the ‘entire world has witnessed the new face of New India’ as the country’s armed forces destroyed terrorist hideouts deep across the border and compelled Pakistan to retreat “within hours.” He credited this success to cutting-edge technology and the Make in India drive in defence equipment production.

The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s rapid infrastructure growth – from metro networks spanning 24 cities to doubling the number of airports since 2014, electrifying over 40,000 km of railway routes, and boosting exports in electronics, automobiles, and mobile phones.

He urged greater self-reliance in technology, stressing “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” manufacturing standards, and called for continued reforms to simplify laws and boost governance efficiency.

“Bengaluru has placed India on the global IT map,” PM Modi said, adding, “Now, it must lead in emerging technologies and manufacturing to fulfil the vision of Viksit Bharat.”

His remarks came after inaugurating the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro worth around Rs 7,160 crore and laying the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the project worth over Rs 15,610 crore, alongside flagging off three Vande Bharat Express trains.

The Yellow Line, connecting RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra over a 19 km stretch with 16 stations, has been built at a cost of ₹7,160 crore. With its launch, Bengaluru’s operational metro network expands to over 96 km. Phase-3, worth ₹15,610 crore, will add 44 km of elevated track and 31 stations, aimed at easing traffic in key residential, industrial, and educational hubs.

The Prime Minister also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains – Bengaluru to Belagavi, Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune – promising faster travel and enhanced connectivity. The Bengaluru–Belagavi route, he said, will boost trade and tourism in north Karnataka.

The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and several Union Ministers.
