Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday hoisted the Tricolour at his residence in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in the run-up to Independence Day.
Chouhan also urged citizens to join the campaign by hoisting the national flag at their homes.
“The Indian flag is the pride of our nation. Lakhs of people fought during the freedom struggle and made immense sacrifices for India’s independence. Let us celebrate the day with full fervour. Today, I hoisted the Tricolour at my residence with my family. I urge everyone to hoist the flag at their homes. Jhanda ooncha rahe hamara, vijayi vishwa tiranga pyara, iski shaan na jaane paye, chahe jaan bhale hi jaye,” he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by his wife Sonal Shah, also hoisted the Tricolour at his residence in the national capital. Visuals from the event showed the couple unfurling a large national flag on their terrace.
On August 11, the Union Ministry of Culture announced the fourth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, launched under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The initiative aims to inspire citizens to bring the Indian National Flag – the Tiranga – into their homes and hearts.
The ministry said that the campaign has evolved into a people’s movement, with over 5 lakh young people registering for participation in its fourth year.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described Har Ghar Tiranga as more than just a campaign, calling it “an emotional movement that unites 1.4 billion Indians under the timeless colours of the National Flag.”
He added that the initiative seeks to instil patriotism, foster civic pride, and spread awareness about the Tiranga as a living symbol of India’s democracy and independence.
