The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) added 20.36 lakh new employees to its rolls in July 2025, according to provisional payroll data released by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Friday.
The data shows that 31,146 new establishments were registered under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme during the month, bringing more workers under the ambit of social security.
Of the total enrolments, 9.85 lakh workers — accounting for about 48.37 per cent — were below the age of 25 years, reflecting the entry of a large number of young people into the workforce.
The gender-wise analysis indicated that 4.33 lakh women employees were added in July, while 88 transgender employees also registered under the scheme. Officials said this underlines ESIC’s commitment to extending benefits across all sections of society.
The number of new registrations in July marked an increase from June, when 19.37 lakh employees were added, showing a growth of 98,694.
The ministry said the payroll data is provisional, as updation is a continuous exercise.
