Ayodhya’s Ramleela draws large crowds amid Navratri festivities

Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, has been immersed in devotion as Navratri festivities continue with fervour. Adding to the spiritual atmosphere, the seventh edition of Ramleela is underway, staging episodes from the Ramayan and drawing growing crowds.

Actor Rahull Bhuchar, who played the role of Lord Ram, said he was humbled by the response. “I am overwhelmed. I feel 18–20 crore people would have watched Ramleela from their homes on television,” he said. Bhuchar also extended a warm welcome to Miss Universe India, Manika Vishwakarma, who made her debut as Maa Sita. “We wish she would come here every year and get a good experience like this time,” he added.

Expressing her delight, Vishwakarma said, “It felt very good. It was my first acting performance, and it was on this prestigious stage. Coming to Ayodhya—the birthplace of Lord Ram—was a beautiful experience.”

Veteran actor Puneet Issar, seen in the role of Lord Parshuram, described his participation as a matter of devotion. “I believe this is my small contribution towards Sanatan Dharma. I just want people to indulge in devotion and follow Lord Ram’s teachings,” he said.

This year’s Ramleela has also brought together a host of prominent performers, including Vindu Dara Singh, MP Manoj Tiwari, MP Ravi Kishan, actress Sonam Tiwari, and senior actor Avtar Gill. Singh captivated the audience as Lord Shiva, while Gill portrayed Narad Muni. Sonam Tiwari was seen as Goddess Parvati.

Organisers noted that Ayodhya’s Ramleela is among the largest such productions in the world. Founder-President Subhash Malik and General Secretary Shubham Malik announced that the performances will be broadcast live daily from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., enabling devotees to join from their homes.

The grand event will continue for several days, presenting key chapters from the Ramayan and is expected to attract massive viewership both at the venue and via live telecast.
