The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the payment of the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days for railway employees, amounting to Rs. 1,865.68 crore. This bonus will benefit 10,91,146 non-gazetted railway staff.
The PLB is awarded annually before the Durga Puja and Dussehra holidays as a recognition of the exemplary performance of railway employees. This year, eligible staff will receive an amount equivalent to 78 days’ wages, with the maximum payable amount being Rs. 17,951 per employee.
The bonus covers a wide range of railway staff, including Track Maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Pointsmen, Ministerial Staff, and other Group ‘C’ employees.
The announcement comes in the backdrop of an impressive performance by Indian Railways in 2024-25. During the year, the Railways loaded a record cargo of 1,614.90 million tonnes and transported nearly 7.3 billion passengers.
The PLB serves as an incentive to motivate employees and further improve the efficiency and performance of the Railways.
