The Ministry of Ayush on Friday inaugurated “Prayas,” an Integrated Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, on the occasion of the 10th Ayurveda Day.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated the centre in the presence of Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, senior officials, and faculty members of AIIA Goa.
According to the Ministry, “Prayas” is among the first-of-its-kind multidisciplinary centres in the country, bringing together Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, Yoga, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and modern Paediatrics under one roof. The facility aims to provide holistic neuro-rehabilitation with a special focus on children with neurological and developmental conditions.
Prataprao Jadhav said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to creating centres of excellence that integrate traditional knowledge with modern medicine. “‘Prayas’ is a model of integrative rehabilitation, offering not just treatment but renewed quality of life and hope for patients and their families,” he stated.
Shripad Yesso Naik said the new centre would provide “new hope for countless families navigating complex health challenges” and highlighted the role of rehabilitation services in addressing neurological disorders.
Prof. P.K. Prajapati, Director of AIIA, said the launch demonstrates the institute’s vision to develop evidence-based, integrative models of healthcare. Dean Prof. Sujata Kadam added that the initiative will also strengthen research and training in Ayush-based innovations.
The Ministry said that “Prayas” is in line with India’s National Health Policy and global practices in integrated healthcare.
