Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has rolled out a special campaign during Vigilance Awareness Week titled “GeM Ki Sunien, Satark Rahein, Zimmedar Banein”, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency, and ethical practices in public procurement.
The initiative is designed as a comprehensive awareness and educational drive, encouraging government buyers to follow best practices, comply with procurement rules, and make full use of GeM’s built-in safeguards. For sellers, particularly startups, micro and small enterprises (MSEs), and last-mile entrepreneurs from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, the campaign seeks to provide a secure, transparent, and empowering marketplace to access public procurement opportunities.
Highlighting the platform’s security features – such as red-flag alerts, structured bid conditions, and transparent audit trails – GeM emphasized that every transaction on the platform is designed to remain fair and trustworthy.
Speaking on the occasion, GeM CEO Mihir Kumar said, “GeM is more than just a platform—it is a national commitment to fairness, inclusion, and trust in public procurement. Vigilance Awareness Week reminds all stakeholders that transparency and responsibility are shared values. By connecting last-mile sellers, startups, and small businesses with buyers across India, GeM ensures that growth remains inclusive, ethical, and sustainable.”
As part of the campaign, GeM has initiated vernacular press outreach, beginning with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, to raise awareness among regional business communities. This outreach aims to underscore the scale of opportunities available on the platform and empower even remote entrepreneurs to participate in public procurement.
GeM has also strengthened opportunities for local enterprises through eight dedicated #VocalForLocal outlets and curated market pages for startups, self-help groups, artisans, weavers, and farmer producer organizations (FPOs). Its progressive revenue policy has made participation easier and more affordable, with 97 percent of orders exempt from transaction fees and caution money requirements for new sellers waived.
The results of these measures are already evident. In Madhya Pradesh, GeM sellers have received orders worth ₹38,027 crore, including ₹26,937 crore by MSEs, ₹1,584 crore by startups, ₹3,197 crore by women-led enterprises, and ₹1,306 crore by SC/ST entrepreneurs. In Chhattisgarh, total orders stand at ₹87,873 crore, with MSEs contributing ₹48,575 crore, startups ₹420 crore, women entrepreneurs ₹1,242 crore, and SC/ST sellers ₹199 crore.
These figures reinforce GeM’s growing role as India’s trusted public procurement ecosystem and its mission to create an inclusive, transparent, and equitable marketplace that benefits every segment of society.
