Ayurveda Day

Goa to host 10th Ayurveda Day on September 23, with global focus on ‘Ayurveda for People & Planet’

The 10th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on September 23, at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa, marking a significant milestone in promoting traditional Indian medicine worldwide, Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav announced on Thursday.

Speaking at a conference at Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare said the event would position Ayurveda as a sustainable healthcare solution globally. “Goa provides the perfect global stage for Ayurveda Day. With its international outlook and deep roots in wellness, Goa will amplify this year’s theme—‘Ayurveda for People & Planet’. We are not just celebrating a tradition; we are taking Ayurveda to the world as a sustainable solution for modern healthcare challenges,” Jadhav said.

In a departure from tradition, Ayurveda Day will now be observed on a fixed date—September 23—moving away from the earlier practice of aligning it with Dhanvantari Jayanti. The choice of AIIA, Goa, a state-of-the-art institute under the Ministry of Ayush, as the venue underscores India’s commitment to advancing traditional medicine through world-class infrastructure and international collaborations.

The theme for 2025, ‘Ayurveda for People & Planet’, reflects the vision to promote Ayurveda as an integrative and sustainable healthcare system that addresses both human health and environmental well-being. The ministry has planned nationwide events across all states and union territories, alongside an extensive global outreach through Indian Missions abroad, international universities, wellness organizations, and diaspora networks.

Building on the success of last year’s celebrations, which saw participation from over 150 countries, Ayurveda Day 2025 aims to expand its international reach. The event aligns with India’s broader diplomatic and cultural efforts to position Ayurveda as an evidence-based, planet-friendly healthcare system for the modern world.
