The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh and Odisha on Wednesday.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure area currently lies over north Odisha and adjoining regions of northwest Bay of Bengal and Gangetic West Bengal, with another fresh low-pressure system likely to form over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around September 25.
Under the influence of these systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across several parts of the country in the coming days. Odisha is likely to witness intense rainfall till September 27, while Chhattisgarh may receive heavy showers on Wednesday and Thursday. Vidarbha is expected to see very heavy rain on September 25, followed by wet spells over central Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa between September 26 and 30. Marathwada is likely to receive very heavy rainfall on September 27. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may also experience heavy downpours on September 26 and 27.
In the past 24 hours, extremely heavy rainfall was recorded at isolated places in Odisha. Very heavy rain occurred in parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Tripura, while heavy rainfall was reported from Andaman Islands, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gangetic West Bengal, central Maharashtra, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Coastal Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR is likely to experience mainly clear skies until September 26, with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 36°C during the day and 23°C to 25°C at night. Winds will predominantly blow from the northwest, with speeds between 10 and 20 kmph in the afternoon before easing in the evening and night. On September 27, the sky is expected to turn partly cloudy with light easterly winds and temperatures remaining near normal.
