The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of eastern and peninsular India over the next few days, while Delhi-NCR is likely to experience partly cloudy skies with warm conditions.

According to the IMD, isolated heavy to very heavy showers are expected over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on September 10 and 13, and in Odisha on September 11. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura between September 12 and 16, and over Assam and Meghalaya from September 13 to 16. Maharashtra is also expected to see increasing rainfall activity between September 13 and 16, particularly in Marathwada on September 13 and in Konkan, Goa, and central Maharashtra on September 14.

In the past 24 hours, very heavy rainfall (measuring between 12 and 20 cm) was recorded at isolated locations in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar. Heavy rainfall (ranging from 7 to 11 cm) was reported from parts of Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, western Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, the forecast for Delhi between September 10 and 13 indicates partly cloudy skies with temperatures hovering between 34°C and 36°C.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature is expected to be 1-3°C above normal, with northwesterly winds blowing at 20–25 kmph through the afternoon and evening.

On September 11, the city is likely to see similar conditions with temperatures between 34°C and 36°C during the day and 24°C to 26°C at night. Winds will continue from the northwest at speeds of 20-25 kmph in the morning and afternoon, reducing slightly in the evening.

September 12 is expected to remain partly cloudy, with daytime temperatures in the same range and minimum temperatures close to normal. Winds will shift from northwesterly in the morning to northwesterly at 10–15 kmph in the afternoon and evening.

On September 13, Delhi will again see partly cloudy skies, with temperatures between 34°C and 36°C and winds from the northwest at 15–20 kmph in the morning, decreasing to 5-10 kmph in the evening.

The IMD has advised residents in eastern and northeastern states to remain alert due to the likelihood of heavy rains, while people in Delhi can expect warm, humid days under partly cloudy skies through the week.
