JP Nadda: under PM Modi’s leadership, India advancing towards self-reliance

Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda on Wednesday said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation is steadily advancing towards the vision of a Swadeshi and self-reliant India.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a five-day exhibition on the life and works of PM Modi in New Delhi, organised on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday.

Nadda recalled the Prime Minister’s message earlier in the day, stating, “Whatever is made in India has the sweat of the people of India in it, and whatever has the essence of Indian soil in it, that is Swadeshi; we have to work for that.”

Highlighting India’s progress in defence production, the BJP President noted, “Our fighter jets, combat planes, and BrahMos, which are being discussed globally, are not borrowed from anyone but are Swadeshi and made in India.”

He also urged people to promote Khadi, recalling its importance during the freedom struggle. “I request everyone to wear Khadi in their lives, definitely buy clothing items made from it, and contribute to making India strong and self-reliant,” he said.

Praising PM Modi’s leadership, Nadda remarked, “We have got good leadership under PM Modi, in which the country has moved forward every moment. We have achieved it by having a vision.”

The BJP President also referred to programmes being held nationwide to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, including Sewa Pakhwada, Ek ped maa ke naam and the Swachh Bharat Mission. He appealed to people to dedicate one hour daily for at least five days to the cleanliness drive.

Celebrations for the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday are underway across the country, with the BJP organising a 15-day Sewa Pakhwada, featuring blood donation camps, cleanliness drives and exhibitions on government achievements.

Prime Minister Modi, born on September 17, 1950, joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) formally in 1971, later entering the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1985. Rising through the party’s ranks, he became General Secretary in 1998, Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, and was sworn in as Prime Minister of India in 2014.
