India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings on Tuesday, displacing England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt
Mandhana scored 58 off 63 balls in the series opener against Australia at New Chandigarh on Sunday, earning seven rating points to move four clear of Sciver-Brunt.
The stylish batter’s opening partner, Pratika Rawal, climbed four places to 42nd after her half-century, while Harleen Deol moved up to 43rd following her 54-run knock.
Australia’s batters also made gains after their eight-wicket win. Beth Mooney rose to fifth from eighth with an unbeaten 77, while Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield jumped to joint 25th after scoring. 54* and 88 respectively.
In the first ODI, India posted 281 in 50 overs with three top-order half-centuries, but Alyssa Healy’s side chased it down comfortably to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
