Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West) Sibi George on Monday held talks with Julius Pranevicius, Vice-Minister of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, in New Delhi.
According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the discussions focused on progress in bilateral relations and prospects for diversifying cooperation, including in high technology.
Earlier this year, Lithuania’s Foreign Secretary Laimonas Talat-Kelpsa described bilateral ties between the two nations as “very good” with only positive elements, providing a strong platform for future collaboration.
He had noted that India and Lithuania had already identified areas producing practical results, particularly in cultural and people-to-people exchanges. This year also marks 400 years since the first Lithuanian arrived in India, an event being commemorated with projects in Goa.
Talat-Kelpsa further highlighted the linguistic connection between the Lithuanian language and Sanskrit, calling it a unique element that strengthens cultural ties between the two countries.
