Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for August 2025 for his match-winning performance in the final Test against England at The Oval, which ensured India levelled the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 2-2.
Siraj delivered an outstanding spell in the decisive Test, claiming nine wickets at an average of 21.11 across both innings. His effort included a brilliant five-wicket haul in the second innings, as he bowled 46 overs in the match and was named Player of the Match.
The right-arm pacer beat competition from New Zealand’s Matt Henry and West Indies’ Jayden Seales to clinch the monthly honour.
Siraj was the only Indian pacer to feature in all five Tests of the series and finished as the leading wicket-taker for India, picking up 23 wickets at an average of 32.43, including two five-wicket hauls. His consistent intensity throughout the series was widely praised and earned him a career-best ranking in the ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings.
Reacting to the honour, Siraj said, “It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been part of. I am proud that I could contribute with some important spells, especially in decisive moments. Bowling against a top batting lineup in their home conditions was challenging, but it brought out the best in me.”
He credited his teammates and support staff for their constant encouragement, adding that the recognition motivates him to continue working hard and performing every time he wears the India jersey.
Siraj’s performances drew praise from cricketing legends, including ICC Hall of Famer Sachin Tendulkar, who lauded the pacer for stepping up in crucial moments and helping India secure a memorable series draw.
