Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday unveiled the logo and brochure of the Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2025, which will be held in the national capital from September 26 to 27.
The summit, to be organised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will take place at Bharat Mandapam alongside the World Food India 2025 event hosted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
Highlighting this year’s theme — “Evolving Food Systems – Yatha Annam Tatha Manah” — Nadda said it underscores the deep connection between food quality and the health of individuals and society. “Food is not merely nourishment, it is a force that shapes physical well-being, mental health, emotional balance, and societal harmony,” he said.
The minister stressed the need for a multi-dimensional approach to food safety, noting that regulators must remain vigilant to changing food habits and markets. “Food safety standards, rules and regulations should be updated accordingly,” he said, lauding FSSAI’s role in advancing standards both nationally and globally.
Nadda said the summit will provide a platform for international regulators to exchange perspectives, harmonise standards, strengthen risk assessment capacities and explore technological innovations in food safety. The ultimate aim, he added, is to protect consumer health while fostering fair trade, innovation and sustainable food systems.
As part of the summit, FSSAI will unveil the ‘Eat Right Thali’ book, which celebrates India’s diverse culinary heritage and promotes balanced diets. Showcasing traditional thalis from every state, the publication highlights indigenous food practices as tools to counter lifestyle diseases such as obesity.
The two-day event will feature keynote addresses by representatives of international organisations, technical and plenary sessions, stakeholder interactions and bilateral and multilateral meetings. Its framework includes eight plenary sessions complemented by high-level conclaves on forward-looking aspects of food regulation.
This will be the third edition of the Global Food Regulators Summit. Building on the success of earlier editions, FSSAI said the forum has positioned India as a hub for global food safety dialogue. Participants will include ministries, international organisations such as WHO, Codex, FAO and EFSA, as well as national regulators and research institutes.
