Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said India’s development strategy rests on three pillars – Self-Reliance (Atmanirbhar) to secure supply chains, Self-Confidence (Atmavishwas) to pursue ambitious global goals, and Self-Protection (Atmaraksha) to safeguard national and global interests.
Speaking at the curtain raiser of the 30th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit in New Delhi, Goyal emphasized that “great partnerships are built on technology, trust, trade, talent, and tradition.”
The Minister said Atmanirbharata means creating resilient supply and value chains that withstand global shocks and prevent the weaponization of trade. Atmavishwas, he added, reflects India’s confidence in engaging with the world as an equal stakeholder, while Atmaraksha involves safeguarding Indian citizens and protecting humanity in line with the G20 theme, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – “One World, One Family, One Future.”
Goyal noted that the day coincided with Durgashtami, symbolizing strength and resilience, and remarked that India, despite global turbulence, remains an “oasis” as the world’s fastest-growing economy.
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s contribution, Goyal praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for pioneering technology-driven governance, creating Hyderabad’s IT hub, and working toward a modern capital at Amaravati. He pointed out that the state is the only one with three upcoming industrial corridors – Krishnapatnam, Orvakal, and Kopparthy.
Goyal also underlined that the overhaul of the GST system would simplify processes, reduce the consumer tax burden, and give a push to consumption-led growth.
Looking ahead, Goyal expressed confidence that the upcoming 30th CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam would help India and its partners strengthen global collaborations. He lauded CII’s role as a bridge between India and the international community.
Inviting global investors, Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu urged participants to attend the summit in November and explore new opportunities in the state.
