PM Modi extends greetings on Teachers’ Day, pays tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, calling them the foundation of a stronger and brighter future. He also paid tribute to former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day.

“Wishing everyone, particularly all hardworking teachers, a very happy #TeachersDay! The dedication of teachers to nurturing minds is the foundation of a stronger and brighter future. Their commitment and compassion are noteworthy,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

“We also remember the life and thoughts of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, a distinguished scholar and teacher, on his birth anniversary”, the Prime Minister added.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared greetings along with a sand art tribute by artist Sudarsan Pattnaik. “On Teachers’ Day, I salute all the gurus who are helping students realise their full potential. Their hard work and dedication is fostering excellence, illuminating lives and contributing to national development,” he posted.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said teachers are “the guiding light who shape young minds, instill values and nurture future leaders.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a post in Hindi, described Dr Radhakrishnan’s contribution to philosophy and education as an inspiration for building a “Modern India–Educated India.”

Every year, the President of India presents the National Awards to Teachers at Vigyan Bhawan to honour outstanding educators. On Thursday, PM Modi interacted with this year’s awardees, saying the respect for teachers in Indian society is natural and timeless. Honouring them, he said, is “not merely a ritual but recognition of their lifelong dedication and impact.”
