PM Modi inaugurates development projects worth over Rs 5,100 crore in Arunachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth more than Rs 5,100 crore in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.

During the visit, PM Modi launched two major hydropower projects collectively valued at over Rs 3,700 crore. He also inaugurated a state-of-the-art Convention Centre in Tawang.

Perched at an altitude of 9,820 feet, the centre can host more than 1,500 delegates for national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions.

Additionally, PM Modi dedicated infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,290 crore across several sectors including connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and working women’s hostels. According to an offcial statement, these initiatives are expected to catalyze economic activity, improve quality of life, and enhance connectivity in the region..

Addressing a public gathering, PM Modi said: “The journey from the helipad to the ground, meeting countless people along the way, and witnessing children and youth holding the national flag filled me with pride.

Arunachal is not only the land of the rising sun but also a land of fervent patriotism. Just as the first colour of the national flag is saffron, Arunachal’s spirit too begins with saffron. Every individual in Arunachal is a symbol of valour and simplicity.”

Expressing his deep affection for the state, PM Modi added: “Every visit brings me immense joy and every moment spent with the people is memorable. The love and affection shown to me is a great honour. From the Tawang Monastery to the Golden Pagoda in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh represents a confluence of peace and culture.”

Highlighting the significance of his visit, the PM said it was special for three reasons. “First, on the auspicious first day of Navratri, I had the privilege of witnessing the beautiful mountain ranges. On this day, devotees worship Maa Shailputri, the daughter of the Himalayas. Second, the implementation of next-generation GST reforms across the country and the launch of the GST Savings Festival gives citizens a double bonanza during the festive season.”

“Lastly, the inauguration of numerous development projects in Arunachal Pradesh across sectors including power, connectivity, tourism, and health reflects the “double benefit” of both Union and state governments working together.

He added: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Arunachal for these projects.”
