PM Modi launches development projects worth over Rs 1.22 lakh crore in Rajasthan’s Banswara

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development works worth over ₹1,22,100 crore during an event in Banswara, Rajasthan. Visiting the sacred land of Maa Tripura Sundari on the fourth day of Navratri, PM Modi paid homage to Maa Mahi – revered as the Ganga of Kanthal and Vagad – and hailed the courage and contributions of tribal communities and leaders like Mahayogi Govind Guru Ji, Maharana Pratap, and Raja Bansia Bhil.

The Prime Minister described the event as a celebration of Urja Shakti (energy power), with the launch of power projects worth over ₹90,000 crore across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. In Rajasthan, he laid the foundation stones for major clean energy projects and transmission lines, inaugurated solar projects, and announced the commencement of the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, which will house four indigenous 700 MW Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors under NPCIL’s “fleet mode” initiative.

PM Modi said that electricity is the driving force of modern development, bringing light, speed, progress, and connectivity. He recalled that when his government came to power in 2014, 2.5 crore households lacked electricity and 18,000 villages were without a single electric pole. Today, he said, every village has been electrified, and 2.5 crore households have received free connections.

Highlighting India’s clean energy mission, PM Modi launched the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to provide free electricity to households through rooftop solar panels and the PM-KUSUM Scheme for solarizing agricultural pumps, benefiting lakhs of farmers by reducing irrigation costs and ensuring energy self-reliance.

The Prime Minister also launched projects worth ₹30,000 crore for Rajasthan, including initiatives to improve access to water, electricity, and healthcare. He flagged off three trains – including two Vande Bharat services – and distributed over 15,000 appointment letters to newly recruited government employees in Rajasthan.

Among the major infrastructure projects announced were multiple water resource projects worth over ₹20,800 crore, drinking water supply schemes worth over ₹5,880 crore under AMRUT 2.0, road and bridge projects worth over ₹2,630 crore, and feeder-level solarization projects of 3,517 MW worth ₹16,050 crore under PM-KUSUM. He also inaugurated a 250-bed RBM Hospital in Bharatpur, IT Development and E-Governance Centre in Jaipur, and new sewerage and water supply systems in several districts.

In a strong message, PM Modi accused previous governments of neglecting Rajasthan’s development, citing corruption, rising crime, and exploitation of tribal regions. He asserted that his administration has restored law and order, strengthened infrastructure, and is propelling South Rajasthan toward rapid growth.

Marking the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Antyodaya – the upliftment of the last person in society – with focused welfare measures for the poor, Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities. He also highlighted the launch of PM Janman Yojana and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan to modernize tribal villages and empower over five crore tribal citizens.

PM Modi further underlined that the government has increased MSP for forest produce, supported Van Dhan Yojana, and linked tribal products to markets – resulting in record growth in forest-based income.

Turning to economic reforms, PM Modi celebrated the GST Savings Festival, stating that new GST reforms have reduced the cost of essentials, footwear, motorcycles, and cement, saving households hundreds of rupees monthly. He urged citizens to embrace swadeshi (Made in India) products during the festive season, noting that every rupee spent on local goods strengthens India’s economy.

The event was attended by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, among other dignitaries.
