Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday reviewed key issues on the bilateral agenda ahead of the upcoming India-Russia Annual Summit, with PM Modi reiterating India’s support for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
Putin called up the Prime Minister to extend greetings on his 75th birthday. PM Modi expressed appreciation and highlighted the enduring nature of the India-Russia partnership, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
During the conversation, the two leaders took stock of preparations for the 23rd Annual Summit scheduled to be held in India later this year. PM Modi conveyed that he looks forward to welcoming the Russian president in New Delhi for the talks.
The two sides also discussed regional and global developments, with PM Modi underlining that India continues to back dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward in the Ukraine conflict.
The leaders agreed to remain in regular contact in the run-up to the summit, MEA added.
