Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Sunday at 5 pm, coinciding with the eve of Navaratri and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms.
Earlier this month, the GST Council announced reforms that slashed the 12 and 28 per cent slabs. Additionally, a 40 per cent rate has been introduced for luxury and sin goods, including tobacco products, pan masala, aerated sugary beverages, high-end motorcycles above 350cc, yachts, and helicopters, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on September 3 after chairing the GST Council meeting.
Today, PM Modi extended greetings to the nation on Mahalaya via X. “Wishing you all Shubho Mahalaya! As the sacred days of Durga Puja draw near, may our lives be filled with light and purpose. May the divine blessings of Maa Durga bring unwavering strength, lasting joy and wonderful health,” he wrote.
Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. In Itanagar, he will lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 5,100 crore and address a public function.
In Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for two major hydropower projects — the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW) — in the Siyom sub-basin, valued at over Rs 3,700 crore. He will also inaugurate a state-of-the-art convention centre in Tawang, located at over 9,820 feet, which will host national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,290 crore across sectors including connectivity, health, fire safety, and working women’s hostels, aimed at improving regional development and quality of life.
In Tripura, PM Modi will perform Pooja and Darshan and inaugurate the development work of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex at Matabari.
