India-Mauritius | Navinchandra Ramgoolam | PM Modi will

PM Modi to host Mauritius PM in Varanasi on Sept 11; to review Uttarakhand flood situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host Mauritian PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi on Thursday and later undertake an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

Mauritian PM Ramgoolam, who is on a state visit to India from September 9–16, will meet PM Modi for bilateral talks around 11.30 am in Varanasi. The discussions will cover the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on development partnership, capacity building, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure and the blue economy.

The Varanasi meeting comes months after PM Modi’s state visit to Mauritius in March when the two sides elevated ties to an ‘Enhanced Strategic Partnership’.

Mauritius is seen as a key partner in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the MAHASAGAR vision — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Region.

Later in the day, PM Modi will reach Dehradun where he will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas around 4.15 pm and chair a high-level review meeting with officials at 5 pm.

The PMO said the summit in Varanasi marks a significant milestone in the journey of India and Mauritius towards prosperity, sustainable development and a secure and inclusive future.
