Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana of Bihar on September 26 at 11 AM via video conferencing, marking a major step toward women’s empowerment and economic self-reliance in the state.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will directly transfer ₹10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar under the scheme, amounting to a total disbursement of ₹7,500 crore.
An initiative of the Bihar government, the scheme aims to make women Aatmanirbhar by providing them with seed capital to start self-employment ventures and livelihood activities of their choice. Each beneficiary will receive an initial grant of ₹10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with the possibility of additional support of up to ₹2 lakh in later phases.
Beneficiaries will be free to choose sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and small-scale enterprises to start income-generating activities. In addition to financial support, community resource persons from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will provide training and handholding support, while Gramin Haat-Bazaars will be strengthened to enable market access for women’s products.
The launch will be celebrated across district, block, cluster, and village levels, with over 1 crore women expected to witness the event statewide, making it one of the largest women-centric programmes in Bihar’s history.
