PM Modi to launch portal on manuscript digitisation tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the International Conference on Gyan Bharatam on Friday at around 4:30 PM at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. On this occasion, he will also launch the Gyan Bharatam Portal, a dedicated digital platform aimed at accelerating manuscript digitisation, preservation, and public access.

The three-day conference, scheduled from 11 to 13 September, is being held under the theme, “Reclaiming India’s Knowledge Legacy through Manuscript Heritage.” It will bring together leading scholars, conservationists, technologists, and policy experts to explore pathways for revitalising India’s unparalleled manuscript wealth and to place it at the heart of the global knowledge dialogue.

The conference will feature an exhibition of rare manuscripts, alongside scholarly presentations covering critical areas such as manuscript conservation, digitisation technologies, metadata standards, legal frameworks, cultural diplomacy, and the decipherment of ancient scripts.

With the launch of the Gyan Bharatam Portal, the government aims to make India’s rich manuscript heritage more accessible to the public, scholars, and researchers worldwide, while promoting the preservation of these invaluable cultural treasures.
