PM Modi urges citizens to join ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged citizens across the country to actively participate in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, describing it as an initiative that embodies collective responsibility and national pride.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “This cleanliness initiative is very encouraging. I urge more people to join this campaign and make it a success.”

The Prime Minister’s call came on a day when several BJP leaders in Delhi took to the streets with brooms to clean public spaces as part of the Delhi government’s ‘Seva Pakhwada’ – a 15-day programme marking the Prime Minister’s birthday on September 17 with social service and public welfare activities until October 2.

As part of the campaign, Delhi BJP leaders launched cleanliness drives at 71 locations across the city, focusing on public areas around flyovers.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, accompanied by BJP workers, Public Works Department (PWD) staff, and Municipal Corporation employees, symbolically inaugurated a cleanliness drive at Rose Garden, the ITO flyover bus stop, and nearby areas.

Municipal Councillor Ramkishore Sharma and Northeast District BJP President U.K. Chaudhary also joined the initiative. Sachdeva emphasized, “Making Delhi beautiful requires sustained efforts. One-day campaigns are not enough—cleanliness has to become a habit, and all citizens must join hands in this effort.”

Similar drives were organized under the Safdarjung–Sarojini Nagar flyover, led by Delhi BJP Media Chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor, South Delhi District President Maya Bisht, and Municipal Councillor Arun Bhati, along with PWD and municipal workers.

At Rajghat, Delhi BJP’s Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, Municipal Councillor Sandeep Kapoor, and State Spokesperson Yasir Jilani also led a symbolic cleanliness drive with party workers and civic employees.
