The Viksit Bharat Run 2025 is being held in more than 150 locations across 91 countries as part of Seva Pakhwada. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, this first-of-its-kind initiative is running from September 17 to October 2.
The 3-5 km community run, themed ‘Run to Serve the Nation,’ at iconic and accessible locations worldwide, seeks to bring together Indians living abroad, local communities, students, and professionals to reaffirm their commitment to India’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Most events of the initiatives are scheduled for September 28, with landmarks including Mexico City’s Angel of Independence, the UNESCO World Heritage site in Paramaribo, Suriname, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
As part of the event, participants will take the Viksit Bharat Pledge and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledge, showing solidarity with India’s developmental journey. They will also join the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation drive, linking personal responsibility with environmental sustainability. The event will provide opportunities to connect with the MY Bharat portal, which offers volunteering, experiential learning programmes, and youth-centric initiatives.
The run will enable participants to engage and network with the Indian diaspora, persons of Indian origin, and local communities, with Indian Missions collaborating with community groups, cultural bodies, and organisations to mobilise youth.
Local leaders and dignitaries have been invited as Chief Guests to inaugurate and participate in the events, highlighting India’s growth story and developmental achievements. Following the run, photos and videos of the activities will be uploaded to the MY Bharat portal, creating a shared record of this global campaign.
