Amit Shah approves Rs 20 crore advance release from SDRF to Nagaland for flood relief

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday approved the advance release of ₹20 crore to Nagaland as the second installment of the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for the financial year 2025–26. The fund aims to assist the state government in providing immediate relief to people affected by extremely heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides during this year’s southwest monsoon.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, the Government of India continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with State Governments during natural calamities, extending both financial and logistical support to ensure timely disaster response.

During the current financial year, the Central Government has already released ₹15,554 crore to 27 States under the SDRF and ₹2,267.44 crore to 15 States under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Additionally, ₹4,571.30 crore has been released from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 States, and ₹372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine States.

The Centre has also extended logistical assistance to states affected by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, including the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, Army contingents, and Air Force support. Notably, this year saw the maximum deployment of 199 NDRF teams across 30 States and Union Territories for rescue and relief operations during the monsoon season.
