Amit Shah | Rajasthan | New Criminal Laws

Amit Shah inaugurates ₹4 lakh crore investment proposals, launches new criminal laws exhibition in Jaipur

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today inaugurated a state-level exhibition on new criminal laws and performed the ground-breaking ceremony for investment proposals worth ₹4 lakh crore in Rajasthan. The event also saw the foundation stone laying of several development projects by the Rajasthan government.

Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah said, “Today’s event is an occasion that synergizes development and justice. The exhibition introduces three new criminal laws that bring fundamental changes to the criminal justice system and make constitutional rights accessible in a simple manner.”

He highlighted the state’s progress, saying, “Out of the ₹35 lakh crore in MoUs signed at the Rising Rajasthan event, ₹3 lakh crore has already been executed. Today, we are laying the ground for an additional ₹4 lakh crore worth of investment proposals.”

Speaking about the criminal law reforms, Shah emphasized, “Everyone associated with the criminal justice system must visit this exhibition. The three new laws, replacing 160-year-old laws, will ensure justice within three years for any FIR filed after 2027. These laws focus on timely, accessible, and simplified justice.”

He added, “A separate chapter has been added for crimes against women and children. Provisions for e-FIR, zero FIR, mandatory videography for seizures, and compulsory forensic investigation for serious offenses have been introduced. Rajasthan’s conviction rate has risen from 42% to 60% within a year, and is expected to reach 90% once fully implemented.”

Shah also outlined the reforms addressing modern crimes, stating, “For the first time, terrorism, mob lynching, organized crime, and digital crime have been defined in India’s judicial system. Time limits for over 29 provisions have been specified, and trial in absentia has been introduced for offenders fleeing the country.” He described the new laws as “the biggest reform of the 21st century in India,” adding that “India’s criminal justice system will become the most modern in the world.”

On development, the Union Minister said, “The Bhajan Lal Sharma government has successfully implemented ₹7 lakh crore worth of MoUs. Projects launched today, worth ₹9,315 crore, will create numerous employment opportunities.”

He also highlighted welfare measures, saying, “Over 5 lakh milk producers in Rajasthan have received subsidies of ₹364 crore. Registration for 150 free electricity units scheme has been launched. The government will purchase 100% of tur, masoor, and urad pulses produced by farmers registered with NAFED and NCCF at MSP.”
