Ashwini Vaishnaw to launch NIELIT Digital University platform on October 2

Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, and Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw will inaugurate the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) Platform on October 2 in New Delhi. The initiative is designed to democratize access to high-quality digital education across the country.

The platform will offer industry-focused programs in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Semiconductors. With flexible digital learning modes and virtual labs, it aims to equip India’s youth with future-ready skills and enhance employability.

As part of the event, the Minister will also virtually inaugurate five new NIELIT Centres at Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Daman (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu), and Lunglei (Mizoram). With these additions, NIELIT continues to expand its role in shaping India’s technological future.

The launch will feature a panel discussion on “The Role of AI in Digitization of Education”, bringing together leading experts from academia and industry. A felicitation ceremony will also be held to honour top-performing students from the DevSecOps course jointly conducted by NIELIT and Kyndryl. In addition, NIELIT will sign MoUs with leading industry partners to further strengthen industry-academia collaboration.

More than 1,500 participants, including NIELIT students from across India, academicians, and technology experts, are expected to attend the event. Dedicated stalls will showcase NIELIT’s strengths in skilling and digital learning models across electronics and IT verticals.

The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has been a pioneer in skill development and digital empowerment. With 56 centres, over 750 accredited institutes, and 9,000+ facilitation centres, NIELIT has trained and certified millions of students in emerging technologies in the E&ICT domain.

Recently conferred the status of a “Deemed to be University” under the distinct category by the Ministry of Education, NIELIT has its main campus in Ropar (Punjab) and 11 constituent campuses across the country. It aims to revolutionize higher education in the E&ICT domain by leveraging digital technologies.
