World Food Day 2025 | Ayurveda Aahara list

Ayush Ministry, FSSAI release Ayurveda Aahara list to boost holistic nutrition, support startups

On the occasion of World Food Day 2025, the Ministry of Ayush and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) unveiled a comprehensive list of approved Ayurveda Aahara products, marking a significant step toward integrating traditional Indian dietary wisdom into global nutrition systems.

The list, developed in consultation with Ayurvedic experts and based on classical texts, is intended to serve as a definitive reference for authentic Ayurvedic dietary preparations. It is expected to drive innovation, build consumer trust, and provide clarity to food businesses interested in Ayurvedic nutrition.

Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health, Prataprao Jadhav, said the initiative aligns with this year’s World Food Day theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”.
“Ayurveda Aahara is not merely food—it is a philosophy rooted in health, sustainability, and harmony with nature,” he said. “Our aim is to make it an integral part of global nutrition for a disease-free future.”

The Ayurveda Aahara regulations, already notified by FSSAI, aim to integrate traditional Indian health systems with modern food safety standards. The release of the categorized product list further strengthens this framework.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, said the growing global interest in Ayurveda-based food systems reflects India’s key role in promoting holistic nutrition. “The product list brings clarity for manufacturers and trust for consumers. It will also act as a major enabler for startups tackling diet- and lifestyle-related health disorders,” he said.

Highlighting the educational and scientific aspect, Professor Anupam Srivastava of the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, said India is showing how traditional dietary knowledge can inform sustainable food policies. “The collaboration between Ayush and FSSAI is a model of working hand in hand for a better food future,” he noted.
