‘BrahMos makes many nervous’, says PM Modi; hails India’s missile might

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded India’s indigenous missile systems, including BrahMos and Akash, highlighting their critical role during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and noting that their performance has made many apprehensive.

Addressing naval personnel on board the INS Vikrant during Diwali celebrations, the Prime Minister said, “Our missiles like BrahMos and Akash have proved their capability in Operation Sindoor as well. The name BrahMos itself is so renowned that just hearing it makes many people anxious, wondering if BrahMos is coming.”

PM Modi added that several countries are keen to acquire these missile systems. “Whenever I meet experts, they all express the same desire: they too want access to them,” he said.

Emphasising India’s growing defence capabilities, the Prime Minister said, “India is building the capability to export equipment for all three services. We aspire to become a top defence exporter in the world, which has increased 30 times in the last 11 years.”

He also highlighted the rapid pace of domestic shipbuilding, noting that, on average, a new indigenous warship or submarine is being inducted into the Navy every 40 days, reflecting India’s swift progress in defence manufacturing.

In a stirring tribute to India’s maritime strength, PM Modi praised the courage of the Navy and the strategic significance of INS Vikrant. “This is not merely a warship; it is a testament to 21st-century India’s ingenuity, resolve, and global influence,” he declared.

The Prime Minister underscored the vessel’s role in recent operations, stating, “INS Vikrant showcased the prowess of the Indian armed forces, compelling Pakistan to yield within days during Operation Sindoor.”
