India finalises winter schedule 2025 for domestic airlines, adds four new airports

The government on Friday announced that the winter schedule for domestic airlines has been finalised, with New Amravati, Hissar, Purnia, and Rupsi airports added to the network.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, final slot clearances were received from respective airport operators after the slot conference meeting held in September. The winter schedule shows a 5.95 per cent growth in weekly departures compared to Winter Schedule 2024.

“Winter Schedule 2025 (WS25), effective from October 26, 2025, to March 28, 2026, for scheduled domestic airlines has been finalised,” the ministry said.

As per WS25, a total of 26,495 departures per week have been scheduled to and from 126 airports, compared to 25,610 departures per week from 129 airports in the Summer Schedule 2025 (SS25).

IndiGo leads with 15,014 departures per week, followed by Air India with 4,277 flights and AI Express with 3,171 flights.

“Among the 126 airports, Amravati, Hissar, Purnia, and Rupsi are new additions proposed by scheduled airlines under WS25. Meanwhile, operations from Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, Bhavnagar, Ludhiana, Pakyong, and Shravasti airports have been suspended,” the ministry added.

India’s civil aviation sector has emerged as one of the fastest-growing in the world, making the country the third-largest domestic aviation market. The number of operational airports has increased from 74 in 2014 to 163 in 2025.
