The Indian Army is set to host the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave in New Delhi from October 14 to 16, bringing together senior military leadership from 32 nations engaged in UN peacekeeping operations.
Delegations from contributing countries are expected to arrive in Delhi on October 13. The conclave will provide a platform to discuss operational challenges, evolving threats, interoperability, inclusivity in decision-making, and the role of technology and training in strengthening UN peacekeeping missions.
India, being one of the largest contributors to UN missions, is convening this high-level forum to share best practices and build consensus on the future of peacekeeping.
“The Conclave reflects the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family),” the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The programme will feature addresses by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix. Plenary sessions will include Chiefs and Heads of Delegations presenting their perspectives. Defence exhibitions, bilateral meetings, and cultural exchanges will also form part of the conclave.
Countries participating in the event include Algeria, Armenia, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Burundi, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Ghana, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Poland, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Senegal, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Uruguay, and Vietnam.
Indian Army Contingent Departs for Exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025
In a separate development, an Indian Army contingent of 120 personnel departed on 12 October for Irwin Barracks, Perth, Australia, to participate in the fourth edition of the India-Australia joint military Exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025, scheduled from October 13 to 26.
Led by a battalion of Gorkha Rifles, along with troops from other arms and services, the exercise aims to enhance military cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide a platform to exchange tactics, techniques, and procedures in sub-conventional warfare in urban and semi-urban terrain.
“Participation in Exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025 will further strengthen defence cooperation and foster camaraderie between Indian and Australian Army troops, thereby reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and mutual trust,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
