Jadeja, Siraj achieve career-high ICC Test rankings following dominant win over West Indies

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj reached career-best positions in the latest ICC Test rankings following India’s commanding victory over the West Indies in the opening match of the World Test Championship series in Ahmedabad.

Jadeja, 36, scored an unbeaten 104 in India’s only innings, lifting him to a career-high 25th spot in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, up from his previous best of 29th in July. His four wickets in the second innings reinforced his standing atop the all-rounders’ rankings, extending his lead to 125 points over Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan.

Siraj, building on his strong performance during India’s England tour, took four for 40 and three for 31 in the match, propelling him three spots to a career-high 12th position with over 700 rating points for the first time. India secured an innings and 140-run victory.

Other Indian players also benefited from the team’s dominant display. KL Rahul rose four places to 35th, while Dhruv Jurel jumped 20 spots to 65th after registering his maiden Test century. Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav gained seven places to 21st after taking two wickets cheaply.

West Indies struggled throughout the match, with no batter reaching a half-century and no bowler claiming more than two wickets.

In the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh returned to the top 10 in batting for the first time since February 2024, following scores of 85 and an unbeaten 103 against New Zealand. New Zealand’s Tim Robinson also climbed 58 places to joint-22nd after scoring an unbeaten 106 in the opening match of the series at Mount Maunganui.

Bangladesh’s 3-0 series win over Afghanistan in the UAE brought several ranking gains. Saif Hassan entered the top 20 batters with an unbeaten 64, Tanzid Hasan rose to 37th, and Parvez Hossain moved to 53rd. Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan regained the second spot in the bowling rankings after taking four for 18 and two for 29 in the first two matches. Fellow Afghan bowlers Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb Ur Rahman improved to 17th and 23rd respectively. Bangladesh’s Tanzim Hasan Sakib moved up nine places to 33rd, Shoriful Islam advanced 21 spots to joint-49th, and series Player of the Series Nasum Ahmed surged from 131st to 44th.
