The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has directed its field offices to prominently display information about the availability of Local Monthly Pass and Annual Pass facilities at all toll plazas across the National Highway network under its jurisdiction.
The move aims to enhance transparency and raise awareness among highway users about the rates, eligibility, and procedures for availing of these concessional passes, which are designed to make regular commuting on National Highways more economical and convenient.
According to NHAI, details about the passes will be displayed on signage boards placed at prominent locations such as toll plaza approaches, customer service areas, and entry and exit points. The information will be available in English, Hindi, and regional languages. Field offices have been instructed to install these boards within 30 days and ensure that they remain clearly visible both during the day and at night, in accordance with fee rules.
For wider outreach, the information will also be made available on the Rajmargyatra mobile app and the respective NHAI project websites.
Under the Local Monthly Pass facility, commuters residing within a 20-kilometre radius (or as applicable) of a toll plaza can avail concessional travel for their private vehicles. Applicants need to present an Aadhaar card, vehicle registration certificate, and proof of residence at the toll plaza helpdesk, where the pass is issued after verification.
The Annual Pass, meant for private vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans, allows up to one year or 200 crossings at a one-time fee of Rs. 3,000. It can be purchased digitally through the Rajmargyatra app and is automatically activated on the user’s FASTag. The pass is currently valid at around 1,150 toll plazas across National Highways and Expressways in the country.
