Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Xavier Bettel, on Friday to review bilateral economic ties and explore new opportunities for trade and investment. The meeting followed Goyal’s series of high-level engagements in Germany aimed at strengthening India’s partnerships in Europe.
“Both leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation across key sectors and reviewed progress in economic relations between India and Luxembourg. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments and discussed the upcoming State Visit to India” said Ministry of Commerce & Industry in a statement.
Goyal, who is on a visit to Germany and Luxembourg, also held extensive discussions with CEOs of leading German companies, including Jochen Hanebeck of Infineon Technologies AG, Klaus Rosenfeld of Schaeffler Group, Michael Masur of Renk Vehicle Mobility, Martin Herrenknecht of Herrenknecht AG, Tobias Bischof-Niemz of Enertrag, and Ola Källenius of Mercedes-Benz Group.
The talks focused on identifying synergies for increased collaboration in critical sectors such as defence, energy, emerging technologies, and mobility. German business leaders expressed optimism about India’s growth trajectory and reiterated their commitment to expand operations and investments in the country.
On Thursday, Goyal met with German Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Katherina Reiche and Dr. Levin Holle, Economic and Financial Policy Advisor at the Federal Chancellery. Those talks centered on advancing cooperation in trade, green energy, technology, and skilling.
Goyal had also chaired a roundtable with CEOs of German Mittelstand companies at the Indian Embassy, where participants expressed strong interest in tapping into India’s expanding market and investment-friendly ecosystem.
Later on Friday, Goyal is scheduled to participate in a high-level panel on global trade at the Berlin Global Dialogue and continue his engagements with leaders of German industry associations.
