PM Modi addresses Rozgar Mela, announces ‘Pratibha Setu Portal’ to harness youth talent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the Rozgar Mela via videoconferencing, marking a milestone in the government’s efforts to provide employment opportunities and empower India’s youth.

In his address, the Prime Minister congratulated over 51,000 newly appointed candidates who received appointment letters across the country, calling it a “double dose of happiness” -celebrating both Diwali and the joy of secured employment.

PM Modi said the Rozgar Mela symbolises the government’s commitment to turning the aspirations of young Indians into reality. “This Diwali has brought a special light into everyone’s lives. Amidst the celebrations, receiving appointment letters for permanent jobs brings immense joy not only to the youth but also to their families,” he remarked, extending his best wishes to the new recruits.

Emphasising that these appointments represent more than just government jobs, PM Modi said that they are the “opportunities to contribute to nation-building.” He urged the new recruits to uphold the spirit of ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’ – to serve citizens with sincerity and dedication. “When youthful energy, enthusiasm, and the desire to serve the nation come together, success becomes a victory for India,” he added.

The Prime Minister highlighted that over the past 11 years, the government has prioritised youth empowerment as a key driver in its mission to build a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). He noted that more than 11 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through various Rozgar Melas in recent times.

PM Modi also announced the launch of a major initiative – the ‘Pratibha Setu Portal’, aimed at connecting candidates who reached the final stage of the UPSC examination but were not selected, with opportunities in both public and private sectors. “Their efforts will not go in vain,” the Prime Minister said, adding that this initiative ensures optimal utilisation of the nation’s vast youth talent.

Discussing broader economic reforms, PM Modi highlighted how the GST Bachat Utsav has boosted consumer savings and employment creation. “When goods become cheaper, demand rises. Higher demand drives production, supply chains, and factory output, leading to more jobs. The GST Bachat Utsav is transforming into an Employment Festival,” he said. He also pointed to record-breaking sales during Dhanteras and Diwali, attributing the surge to GST reforms that have revitalised the MSME and retail sectors, creating new opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and distribution.

The Prime Minister further noted that India’s youth-centric foreign policy is unlocking new global opportunities. He cited recent partnerships with countries such as the United Kingdom, Brazil, Singapore, Korea, and Canada, which focus on AI, fintech, clean energy, and startup growth. The India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), he said, will open new avenues for youth employment and innovation.

PM Modi also underscored the role of continuous learning and good governance, encouraging new appointees to use the ‘i-Got Karmayogi Bharat Platform’, where over 1.5 crore government employees are already upskilling themselves. “This platform fosters a culture of efficiency and innovation in public service,” he said.

Concluding his address, PM Modi reaffirmed his faith in India’s youth as the torchbearers of a developed nation. “India’s future will take shape through your efforts. You are the karmayogis who will turn the vision of a Viksit Bharat into reality,” he said, extending heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the new appointees.
