PM Modi hurls ‘lathbandhan’ jibe at Opposition, urges youth to vote for a ‘Viksit Bihar’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on Mahagathbandhan in Bihar’s Begusarai. He contrasted the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with the opposition bloc, saying, “On one side, there is the NDA – an alliance with mature leadership – and on the other side, there is the ‘Maha Lathbandhan’.”

Taking a swipe at the rival camp, PM Modi said, “In this Maha Lathbandhan, there is the ‘Atak Dal’, ‘Latak Dal’, ‘Bhatak Dal’, ‘Jhatak Dal’ and ‘Patak Dal’. The RJD hasn’t won any election in the past two decades, yet it remains stuck in its own arrogance. In this arrogance, it pushed away the JMM. The Congress has been following the RJD in Bihar for 35 years, and this time, the RJD pushed it away again. They even misled the VIP. And the Left parties? They were left dangling.”

Accusing the opposition parties of corruption and opportunism, PM Modi added, “When self-interest prevails and loot is the goal, that’s exactly what the RJD and Congress are doing. They first sell tickets, then commit scams. The RJD family is the most corrupt family in Bihar – most of its members are out on bail. Similarly, the Congress family is the most corrupt in the country. Bihar doesn’t trust such people.”

PM Modi engaged with the audience by asking them to turn on their mobile phone lights. Drawing a comparison with the past, he said, “During the Congress era, mobiles were very expensive and had to be imported. Back then, there were only two factories making mobiles in India. Today, thanks to the BJP-NDA government, we have over 200 factories, and data has become cheap. This has opened new opportunities for Bihar’s youth in content creation. Now, everyone can see these mobiles – this light. So, do the people of Bihar still need a lantern?”

Highlighting Bihar’s development under the NDA government, PM Modi said, “Under Nitish Ji’s leadership, nearly 5 million jobs have been created in Bihar. Record recruitments have been done in education, police, and health sectors, and even more jobs will be created in the next five years. Medical colleges are being set up in every district, including Begusarai, and Ayushman Aarogya centers in villages will create new opportunities for doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff.”

The Prime Minister also spoke about the GST Bachat Utsav, emphasizing that the government’s focus is on reducing household expenses and boosting savings. “That is the very idea behind the GST Bachat Utsav. With lower GST, every family in Bihar is saving more,” he said.

PM Modi also highlighted the growing preference for local products, noting, “A report shows that nearly 90% of purchases in the country are of Swadeshi products. This means our shopkeepers are selling local goods, and people are buying local. When Swadeshi products sell, it benefits our farmers, artisans, and small businesses.”

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister asserted that the NDA has brought peace and security to Bihar. “The NDA has freed Bihar from Naxalism and Maoist terror. Today, people can work without fear and vote freely. Every vote for the NDA will help build a peaceful and prosperous Bihar while keeping the forces of jungle raj away,” he said.
