PM Modi urges devotees to seek darshan of ‘Jore Sahib’ during Guru Charan Yatra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged people to have darshan of the sacred ‘Jore Sahib’ during the Guru Charan Yatra, which will travel from New Delhi to Gurudwara Patna Sahib in Bihar. The Prime Minister said he hoped the yatra would deepen people’s connection with the noble ideals of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.

“May the Guru Charan Yatra deepen our connect with the noble ideals of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. I urge people in the areas this yatra will cover to come and have Darshan of the holy ‘Jore Sahib’,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

The revered Jore Sahib — the sandals of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur Ji — will be carried from New Delhi to Takht Sri Patna Sahib as part of the Charan Suhawa – Guru Charan Yatra. These sacred relics, preserved by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s family for over 300 years, will be made available for Sangat Darshan across several cities.

Before the journey, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and his family performed ardas (prayer) at their residence before ceremonially handing over the holy Jore Sahib to the Sikh Panth. The relics will be available for darshan at Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib in New Delhi from 6 PM to 11 PM on Wednesday.

The Yatra will commence from Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib on October 23 and conclude on November 1 at Takht Sri Patna Sahib — the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh. The procession will pass through Faridabad, Agra, Bareilly, Mahangapur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Sasaram before reaching Patna Sahib.

The holy journey will be accompanied by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones), following traditional Sikh spiritual protocol.

The Charan Suhawa Yatra is being viewed as a moment of deep spiritual importance for the global Sikh community, offering devotees a rare opportunity to connect with physical relics of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. Local Gurdwaras along the route are preparing to welcome the Yatra with Kirtan Darbars, langar sewa, and devotional gatherings at each stop.
