President Droupadi Murmu on Friday emphasised the need for inclusive and participatory governance while addressing the national conclave on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan in New Delhi. The President also felicitated the best-performing states, districts, blocks, and Integrated Tribal Development Agencies for their contributions to tribal welfare and development.
In her address, President Murmu said that the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan reflects India’s commitment to ensuring that tribal communities become active participants in the nation’s growth story. She described the initiative as a “transformative vision” aimed at making every tribal village self-reliant and proud.
“This campaign ensures that tribal communities not only benefit from development but also shape it. I am confident that the Tribal Action Framework will play a crucial role in the empowerment of our tribal people and the progress of the nation,” the President said.
Highlighting the campaign’s focus on decentralised governance, President Murmu said that the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan strengthens Gram Sabhas and community-led institutions, making policies more responsive and effective. She added that meaningful participation from tribal society can help shape national policy and improve the impact of welfare schemes.
“Our tribal communities are an integral part of India’s socio-cultural fabric,” she noted, adding that their traditions remind the nation that “true development must be in harmony with nature.”
The President acknowledged the government’s recent efforts to improve infrastructure, education, and employment opportunities in tribal areas. She pointed to the expansion of residential schools, scholarship programmes, and skill development schemes that have boosted livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among tribal populations.
“These initiatives have not only increased economic opportunities but also strengthened the self-confidence of tribal communities,” she said.
Underscoring the importance of inclusive growth, President Murmu said, “The real progress of the nation lies in the development of all sections of society. We must build an inclusive India where every citizen can participate meaningfully and shape their own destiny.”
The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan is a flagship initiative focused on empowering tribal communities through self-reliance, local governance, and sustainable development, marking a significant step in India’s inclusive development journey.
