The weather in Dausa witnessed a sudden shift on Thursday as overnight rainfall led to the season’s first dense fog, blanketing the city and nearby areas early in the morning.
Visibility dropped to below 100 metres, slowing traffic movement on National Highway 21 as vehicles crawled through the thick fog. The unexpected change in weather disrupted daily life, with light rain continuing across the district.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert, cautioning that foggy conditions are likely to persist for the next two days.
According to the IMD forecast, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and gusty winds of 20–30 kmph is expected at isolated locations across several districts, including Nagaur, Barmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Pali, Ajmer, Sirohi, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Tonk, Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Baran, Kota, Jhalawar, and adjoining areas.
Cloudy skies and intermittent showers are likely to continue over Udaipur and Kota divisions for the next four to five days, while the rest of the state is expected to turn mostly dry from October 31 onward, the IMD said.
The ongoing rainfall has brought down maximum temperatures in southern and eastern parts of Rajasthan by 5 to 12°C. Bhilwara recorded the lowest maximum temperature at 19.6°C — 13.7 degrees below normal.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain indoors during thunder activity, avoid standing near trees, and disconnect electrical appliances until weather conditions stabilise.
